Afterwards
Support Group
Service Description
Afterwards is a three-session psychoeducational support group for women navigating the end of a romantic relationship. It's built on the understanding that a breakup rarely means losing just one person; it can mean losing routines, identity, security, and the future you had pictured, all at once. Across the three sessions, you'll move gently through that arc: understanding the loss, making meaning of what the relationship and its ending have shown you, and identifying what you want to carry forward. Each session combines short, accessible psychoeducation with guided reflection and conversation in a group of no more than eight women. There's no expectation that you'll have “moved on” by the final session. The goal is steadier footing, practical coping tools, and a clearer sense of your own next step at whatever pace that takes. Is Afterwards Right for You? Every breakup is different, and so is what each person needs afterwards. Afterwards is one option among several; here's how to tell if it's the right one for you, right now. This may be a good fit if you're: • Adjusting to the end of a romantic relationship, recent or not so recent • Looking for structure and gentle guidance, rather than an open-ended venting space • Comfortable engaging in a small group setting alongside other women • Curious about your own patterns, beliefs, and possible next steps • Able to manage day-to-day life, even while things still feel hard It may not be the right time if you're: • In the middle of an active safety concern or ongoing danger • Looking for one-on-one therapy or in-depth individual treatment • In need of immediate, same-day emotional support • Currently experiencing a mental health crisis Please Note Afterwards is a structured psychoeducational support group it is not individual therapy and not crisis intervention. It's designed for reflection and support at a manageable, weekly pace, not for responding to emergencies. If you are in crisis or feel unsafe, please contact a licensed mental health professional, a local crisis line, or emergency services in your area before or instead of joining a group. At a Glance • Format: Virtual, via video conferencing • Group size: Maximum 8 participants • Duration: 3 weekly sessions • Facilitator: Tracy Reid, Counselling Psychologist Choose a Session Time Afterwards runs in two weekly time slots, so you can choose whichever works best for your schedule: • Thursday at 6:00 PM • Saturday at 4:00 PM
